A new fretboard is glued to the neck. Inlays are positioned with a drop of glue and aligned with the 2 strings shown. After the glue has set, A scribe is run around the inlays to create an outline, The inlays are then removed and a router is used to remove the bulk of wood where the inlays will recess into. The corners are removed with a sharp knife and chisel. The shell is then glued into the neck and sanded flush. The neck is not glued in at this point.
